Who We Are


Cornell Caspian Consulting, LLC, has Offices in Stockholm, Sweden, and in Washington, D.C. The company also operates with Project Associates in the region, drawing on a wide network of experts.

Ambassador Erik Cornell, Ret., is President of Cornell Caspian Consulting. Among many diplomatic postings, he opened Sweden’s Embassy in North Korea in 1975, and served as Sweden’s Ambassador to Turkey in 1990-95 and to Bosnia-Herzegovina in 1996. He is also currently the Secretary-General of the Foundation Children of Abraham, working of cultural and religious coexistence. His book Turkey on the Threshold of the Twenty-First Century was published in 2001; his North Korea under Communism appeared in 2002.

 


Dr. Svante E. Cornell is the Executive Director of Cornell Caspian Consulting. He holds a Ph.D. in Peace and Conflict Studies from Uppsala University, Sweden, and an honorary degree from the Azerbaijani Academy of Sciences. He is a founder an co-director of the Stockholm-based Institute for Security and Development Policy, and serves as Research Director of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute, Johns Hopkins University-SAIS.
